On 11/17/12, Clare investigated the Montgomery / Brookins House – Malibu, CA. With investigators Rob Wlodarski and Gerald Reynolds, they endured a rainy, windy, and foggy day all in the name of SCIENCE. Well, sort of.
Built in 1928, it is the former home of actor Robert Montgomery and his family. He had the house built from materials that were transported via mule to the site. Its style was to be that of a hunting lodge and residence. The home was also inhabited by some of his celebrity friends like Charlie Chaplin, Marion Davies, and others.
In the 1940s, it became home to Earl and Beulah Montgomery (with their family of six) until 1968. It went on to become a retreat/headquarters for the Center of Perfect Liberty and was eventually purchased by the Fuji Corporation in the mid-70s. Retaining the majority of its original architecture, it has been subjected to some modifications through the years. Now, its interior sits covered in graffiti.
During an investigation of one of the bedrooms on the second floor, a spray paint can seemingly was thrown into the room.
The following is an excerpt from the report:
There were a couple EVPs that have since been disproven through the collaboration of Rob, Jerry, and Clare. The following EVPs have yet to be disproven and their interpretations are as follows:
- “…table..”
- “I don’t understand.”
- “Stop.”
While in an upstairs bedroom, Clare and Rob discussed an overdose by a woman named ‘Linda’ that died in the nearby bathroom. Rob stood by the entrance to the bedroom while Clare stood in the middle of the room. While discussing this, a black spray paint cap seemingly dropped into the room from the direction of the doorway and landed on the ground between Rob and Clare. Clare having been looking in the direction from where it came from, was able to eliminate the possibility of it been thrown or kicked by Rob. Also, it was noted that Clare and Rob were paying specific attention to the ground before entering the bedroom while commenting on the overabundance of rat droppings. The spray paint can was not seen by neither Rob nor Clare on the ground before entering the room.
Clare did not have an audio recorder on at this time so an EVP session was not conducted by her. Although, she did have a GoPro video camera which she immediately turned on after the incident occurred. There’s no other occurrences of a possible paranormal nature on the video camera footage.
There were no other unexplained or peculiar occurrences observed or experience by Clare during the investigation. The day was wet and windy, which provided a lot of ambient and environmental noise.
